OK people...here's the facts....most of the guys who produce dance music or drum and bass know sod all about music. Lets not kid ourselves it's not hard...you don't even need expensive equipment to do it with and here is how.
1. First off your going to need a Wav editor... there are several out there which are pretty good but I would personally recommend Cool Edit which I think you can get off the net if you look. If you take your time you will not need a sequencer which you will see later on.
1. Now instead of paying for expensive drum machine just download a drum loop wav off the net.....who's going to know, they sound all the same anyway.
3. way is to just get a cheap microphone and plug it The next step is to get the soundz you want. this sounds hard but you can get guitar loops off the net and any sounds you want off any CD's etc Another good in your mic socket. Try messing around with the soundz. But you want your own soundz I hear you say...well there are some damn good software synths which are freeware and can be downloaded and used. Why not try Audiomulch which is a pretty good program if you can find it.
4. To mix the soundz you want get all samples at the same sample rate, I suggest 44.1 . The next thing to do is to get the sample at the pitch you want by pitch shifting in your Wav editor. The next stepis to paste them onto your drum sample by choosong paste mix.
5. Try searching for wav files in find file on your computer.. you'll be suprised at how good some of them are and can be use as FX.
6. When your done. Compress the sound and then try running it through some of the internal effects in your wav editor. so kidz, there you have it. if anyone wantz to send any comments or want anymore questions asked email me at [email protected]
